Liver disease is a general term for conditions that affect the liver's ability to function properly. Liver disease can be caused by viruses, drugs, alcohol, or other metabolic conditions.
Symptoms
Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
Abdominal pain or swelling
Swelling in the legs and ankles
Itchy skin
Dark urine
Pale stool
Constant tiredness
Nausea or vomiting
Loss of appetite
Bruising easily
Types of liver disease
Hepatitis : A viral infection that can be transmitted through blood or unprotected sex
Cirrhosis : A late stage of chronic liver disease that can lead to liver failure
Autoimmune hepatitis : An immune system disorder that attacks the liver cells
Fatty liver disease : A condition where the liver becomes fatty
Alcoholic liver disease : A condition caused by long-term alcohol abuse
