Joint pain can be caused by many things, including injuries, infections, or long-term conditions. Symptoms can include pain, swelling, stiffness, or difficulty moving the joint.
Causes
Injuries : Such as a broken bone, sprain, or torn ligament
Arthritis : A long-term condition that can include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or gout
Infections : Such as osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, or a viral infection
Autoimmune diseases : Such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis
Other conditions : Such as bursitis, tendinitis, or frozen shoulder
Overuse : Such as from unusual exertion or repetitive use of a muscle
Other factors : Such as depression, anxiety, stress, or being overweight
Treatment
Rest the joint and avoid activities that cause pain
Apply ice or heat to the joint
Compress the joint with a bandage
Elevate the joint above your heart
Take medicines like paracetamol or ibuprofen
Try gentle exercises like walking, cycling, or swimming
